Planning the Garden

Like the photo of a mail order bride,
the seed catalogue describes
what will be needed
in the ensuing weeks:
a fit and proper bed
laid out east to west,
a vessel of tendered water,
a strong sun to part the veil of trees.
With this,
they will arise,
bloom,
thrive,
then recline
in autumn.
A lesson in love.
A lesson in kind.
Seeds arcing from my hand
