The Pond

Do you enjoy the intelligence of the pond - the symmetry of pursuer and prey, adornment and adoration, the lip of the land, around the soft oval lake? A man and woman sail a boat between them a small, almost child's toy - he releases it to her and she to him - charming, but for their serious gaze and the echoed, rivulets in the boat's wake. This work they've set about - as serious to them as, say, the task of the black feathered swan now gliding toward the broken bread, the ducks gathered in their nest, the clouds, which soon, judging by their looks, will fall, drop by drop into the waiting pond and mix.
