Water from the Lake
Water from the lake has fallen in our town, from grappling clouds a hundred miles thick and long, traveling low weakened by the rub of land and sky. Below the forest above the plowed county map in this suburb of East Lansing those lifted waters in descent fill overhangs and gutters, and the backyard ditch. The dog, the girl next door as one splash in matted culverts before the rain moves on.
